I’ve got a new Reason newsletter called “Sex & Tech” and you can subscribe here.
It’s about—obviously—sex and tech, as they intersect with law, policy, and politics (and with each other, since so many tech stories are sex stories these days and vice versa). It will also, at times, be about internet culture, bodily autonomy, and reproductive freedom more broadly.
At least, that’s the idea. As of now, it’s just a little over a month old, so I’m still figuring out its parameters.
But I’m so excited to be narrowing down a little, after five years of doing Reason’s general weekday morning newsletter, the Reason Roundup. That was a lot of fun to do—I’m an extreme morning person, so I loved just getting up every morning and having it be my job to peruse All The News. And I loved writing about a wide variety of topics day to day, while still focusing my feature-writing energy on sex and tech topics (like, last year, algorithms, antitrust, abortion, fertility rates, and “what women want”). It was a lot, however, having to keep up on the biggest news of the week, every week, and I began to feel a bit burnt out by it.
So, now, the Reason Roundup torch has been passed to my colleague Liz Wolfe. And I get to wake up in the morning and ignore the biggest political news of the day if I choose and instead hone in on the things I have the most knowledge (and opinions!) about and am best at covering. I also get to spend a little longer on each story than I did with Roundup, since this new newsletter comes out just twice a week (on Mondays and Wednesdays) instead of five days a week.
So subscribe! Tell your friends! Tell your followers! Please and thank you.
